More than 500 children were challenged to a dragon boat race by Merseyside Police.
Delivered in partnership with the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, thirty teams of young people lined the Albert Dock for the competition, which took place alongside a Chinese festival.
Aged nine to 19, the teams from Wirral, Liverpool North, Sefton, Liverpool South, Knowsley and St Helens, were accompanied by their local dedicated neighbourhood officers.
Darkhorse created the branding for this major public event using images designed to appeal to disengaged inner city youths.
These were developed at youth engagement workshops where we studied the kinds of clothing motifs, tattoos and other insignia to which the young people related. The event is part of the Merseyside Police Force Youth Engagement Programme.
Young people from disadvantaged communities in Liverpool went on to represent GB in the Beijing International Dragon Boat Championships.
