The three year Design Programme created opportunities to debate and discuss design in the Lake District National Park. Darkhorse transcribed over 200 hours of recorded debates and meetings before deciding to break the content down into four journals – Inspire, Imagine, Innovate and Improve. The journals are housed in a beautifully produced slipcase that allows capacity for further journals to be added.
The Lake District National Park Design Programme embraces the philosophy of design intelligence and understands the need for buildings to be sensitive to their individual place, time and function and responsive to the landscape. The aim was to be provocative and stimulating, to engage with progressive ideas and new technologies while at all times respecting the cultures and traditions of the past, which are pivotal in conserving the natural beauty of the Lake District.
We liaised with members of the LDNP team, stakeholders, funding bodies as well as landscape architects to deliver this set of journals. Each slipcase is individually numbered by hand. The natural environment within the Park influenced the colour palette for the journals and the slipcase.
